Retreats, workshops and private lessons to help you move with ease and comfort and live your daily life to the full
Is your quality of life compromised by a bad back, any type of injury, repetitive strain problems or general "wear and tear"? CFR (Cortical Field Reeducation)® can help you. This new form of somatic education (brain/body work) acts on the nervous system to release chronic muscular contractions, eliminate aches and pains, and help recovery from injuries.
The method improves posture, co-ordination and flexibility, increases vitality and improves brain functioning. Above all, CFR teaches you to move through your daily life with more ease, comfort, freedom and pleasure. See how CFR works for more detailed information.
Anne Hunt, director of the Movement for Life programme, offers personal and small group retreats, workshops and private lessons in CFR. They take place at Casa Ana, a beautiful and peaceful mountain retreat in the Alpujarras, Andalucia, southern Spain.

“CFR felt wonderful. It was as if all the parts of my body joined together and started communicating.”
Barbara Lynch
“During the CFR intensive, I noticed decreases in pain not only in my neck, but also in my lower back, knees and feet. In traditional physical therapy, I fought my body (and feared re-injury); in CFR, I found my body (and let it relax)…”
Leanora Perri
“My neck seemed to be floating effortlessly – with no ‘cracks’, no spasms and no muscle pulls. It seems such a simple thing to do – to focus on coordinating mind and body – and yet so effective! My neck never felt better…”
Arlene Nichols

Anne Hunt
Director, Movement for Life Programme
My background is in classical and world music. I first came across CFR in 2001 when seeking medical help for a shoulder injury. I was so impressed and heartened by the results of a CFR workshop that I continued practising CFR and in 2005 undertook a practitioner training in California with Harriet Goslins, founder of the method. I now have a private CFR practice in Spain.
CFR helped me tremendously - not only to heal my shoulder injury but also to rediscover my ability to move with freedom and pleasure. My aim now is to help others discover the benefits of CFR through the Movement for Life programme of retreats and workshops at Casa Ana in Andalucia.

Retreats, workshops and private lessons
with Anne Hunt
If you are new to CFR, the best way to experience it and to receive maximum benefit is to attend a CFR 1 workshop lasting four days, or undertake a series of private lessons.
CFR 1 workshop
As children, most of us will have experienced some sort of physical trauma including accidents or injuries as well as singular or repeated negative emotional experiences. These experiences all have an adverse effect on our biomechanics, that is, the way we carry out everyday, functional movement – walking, running, bending, reaching, sitting down and getting up. In later life we experience limitations in our ability to move, wear and tear on joints and chronic pain or discomfort.
CFR 1 begins the process of re-educating your nervous system so you begin once again to move optimally, finding energy-efficient and enjoyable ways of making the movements you need in your daily life.
Each CFR 1 offers you 14 hours of floorwork in a group of no more than 4 people, plus one individual tablework session. Most of the lessons are done lying on a mat on the floor. The movements you make will be gentle and painless and within your comfort zone. They are suitable for people of all ages. See a sample CFR 1 timetable.
Private CFR 1 retreats
Private CFR 1 retreats of three or four days are also available – please contact me for details.
Private lessons
These are available at any time and a series of at least six lessons is recommended. Each lesson lasts approximately 11⁄4 hours and may involve floor- or table-work. A series of lessons can help relieve chronic aches and pains and assist in recovery from injuries.
Price: €40 per session.
Special Offer: €35 to guests at Casa Ana. Book your session in advance by calling me on 0034 958 766 270 or email: info@casa-ana.com

Las Alpujarras
The Alpujarras is a stunningly beautiful mountain area on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada range in Andalucia. It is situated about 90 minutes drive south from the historic city of Granada, and the same distance north of the Mediterranean sea.
To explore the Alpujarras is to step back in time. For many centuries the area was populated by the Moors who left their mark on the landscape: everywhere you look there are terraced fields, mediaeval mule paths and an incredibly sophisticated, hand-constructed irrigation system with hundreds of kilometres of water channels (acequias) and tiny reservoirs (alberquas). For a thousand years these have provided water from the high sierras to every village and every meadow, almond grove and vegetable garden in the area. This system is still in use today.
The Alpujarras is famous for its white villages, clinging precariously to the mountainsides. This too shows the legacy of the Moors: the jumbles of flat-roofed, rammed earth dwellings are not seen anywhere else in Spain but closely resemble the building style of the Atlas mountains of Morocco.
See elsewhere on this site for more information about the area, about its local amenities and on how to get to Casa Ana in Las Alpujarras.
